Understanding Motivation with DISC

The DISC system of behavioral and personality assessment was first developed during the 1920s by the man who would later become known for his “lie detector” test – William Moulton Marston. Since his development of a method for identifying key personality characteristics, the DISC profile system has been used to help professionals, individuals and groups build more effective team relations.

The DISC title for the system comes from the four identified personality styles: dominance, influence, steadiness and conscientious. Using a simple questionnaire Dr. Marston found an actual scientific formula that could be derived by the answers from each individual.

After that an individual will be able to better understand themselves; their weaknesses, strengths and major motivators. Such understandings then allow a “recipe” for successful group building to be developed, with equal measures of leadership, diplomacy, thought and reliability. DISC profiles help to foster strong teamwork that is formed on a basis of mutual understanding,.
